Definition
A funding and open-interest alert fires when a market you track prints outside a band you set, or when open interest jumps while funding was already extreme. It reports the numbers. It does not pick a side.
Who it is for
Perp traders who already watch funding and want the extreme, not the routine print.
Job to be done
Notify you when funding or open interest on markets you listed leaves the band you wrote down.
Human gate. You confirm the print on the venue before you treat the alert as real. The agent never flips a position.
Inputs and outputs
Inputs
- Markets you trade, with venue
- Funding band and open-interest change you consider extreme
- Whether both must fire or either may fire
- Your position list, so the message can say "you are in this" or "watch only"
Outputs
- Alert with venue, market, funding, interval, open-interest change, and your band
- A line that says whether you already have a position there
- Timestamp of the print
Step-by-step workflow
- 01Write bands per marketA global band is how small alts page you all night. Set funding and open-interest limits where you actually trade.
- 02Decide the joinEither condition, or both. Write it down. "Interesting" is not a join.
- 03Attach position contextIf a read-only snapshot says you are in the market, the alert says so. If the snapshot fails, the alert says the inventory is unknown.
- 04Show history in the messageLast few funding prints, not only the one that crossed. Context stops you from reacting to a blip.
- 05Silence routine printsInside the band, send nothing. A healthy watcher is quiet.
- 06Human gateReopen the venue. If the print does not match, the feed is wrong and the alert is scrap.
Suggested tool types
These are categories of tools, not product picks. Crypto Agent Desk does not certify vendors and does not run an affiliate program.
| Type | Why it is here |
|---|---|
| Funding and open-interest feed | Extremes are measured, not remembered by a chat model. |
| Read-only position snapshot | So the alert can mention inventory without a withdrawal-capable key. |
| Alert transport | One channel. Funding alerts that arrive in three apps get ignored in all three. |
| Chat model | Optional formatter. It should quote your band, not invent a new one. |
Risks and failure modes
One-interval spike
A single rich print can mean a squeeze that is already over. Show the prior intervals next to the alert.
Open interest without a price
Open interest can rise because both sides added. Do not let the message imply a direction.
Key scope
A position check needs a read-only key at most. If the only key you have can withdraw, do not connect it.
Operator notes
Extreme means outside your band, not “the number feels large”. If you cannot write the band, you want a dashboard, not an alert.
Message shape
VENUE MARKET funding PRINT versus your band BAND, interval INTERVAL. Prior prints: LIST. Open interest change: VALUE. Your inventory: in market / flat / unknown. Not a side.
Prompt you can paste
Using this funding export and this open-interest export, alert only if my rule fires.
Rule: RULE (either or both).
Bands: BANDS.
Position snapshot: SNAPSHOT or "unknown".
Include the last three funding prints and the timestamp.
Do not recommend long or short. If nothing fires, reply "no alert".
Done when
A quiet day produces no messages, and a fired message can be checked against the venue in one look.
FAQ
Should the alert say "crowded long"?
Only if you defined that phrase as a numeric rule. Otherwise the words smuggle a view the threshold did not earn.
How often should bands change?
On a review, not during the alert. Moving the band because you are annoyed is how you delete the signal.
What if I have no position feed?
Send the market alert anyway and label inventory as not checked. Do not guess the position from memory in the model.
