Definition
A shock-to-position check takes one event and a timestamped inventory, then lists which lines are exposed and why. It asks questions you should be able to answer before you change the book. It does not rank emergency trades.
Who it is for
Traders who hear a headline and need a map of their own inventory before they touch anything.
Job to be done
Given a shock and a fresh position export, list what is exposed and what is unknown, without recommending an order.
Human gate. You decide to hold, reduce, or do nothing after you have verified the headline source and the inventory time. The agent cannot mark a line "urgent sell".
Inputs and outputs
Inputs
- The headline or incident, with source and time
- A position, balance, and collateral export newer than a limit you set
- What you count as exposed: same asset, same venue, same collateral, correlated beta you name
- A staleness limit, such as inventory older than 15 minutes is unusable
Outputs
- Exposed lines, with the link you claimed (same asset, venue, collateral)
- Lines that are not exposed
- Unknowns, including stale inventory
- Questions, not orders
Step-by-step workflow
- 01Capture the eventOne paragraph, the source URL, the time. If you only have a rumor, label it commentary or unconfirmed.
- 02Export the bookPositions, collateral, and venue balances. Note the export time. If it is older than the limit, stop.
- 03Apply your exposure rulesSame asset, same venue, same collateral, or a beta link you already wrote. Do not add new links during the shock.
- 04List three bucketsExposed, not exposed, unknown. Unknown includes missing prices, missing collateral, and unverified sources.
- 05Write questionsExamples: is the venue the one in the incident, is the collateral the stable under watch, is the export after the event. Not "should I flatten".
- 06Human gateYou act on the venue yourself if you act at all. Paste nothing from this run into an order ticket.
Suggested tool types
These are categories of tools, not product picks. Crypto Agent Desk does not certify vendors and does not run an affiliate program.
| Type | Why it is here |
|---|---|
| Read-only position and balance export | The check is about your book. Memory is the wrong source during a shock. |
| Primary source for the event | A repost is not the incident. Grade it the same way as the digest. |
| Chat model | Maps the event onto the export using rules you wrote. It should refuse a stale file. |
Risks and failure modes
Stale inventory
A shock note on yesterday’s book is a different book. If the export is older than your limit, the only output is "inventory stale".
Correlation fan fiction
The model will call everything exposed. Only the links you defined count. Everything else is "not in scope".
Panic orders in the prose
Ban verbs that send size: buy, sell, close, market. The allowed verbs are exposed, not exposed, unknown.
Operator notes
During a shock, the useful sentence is “these three lines match the rule, and the export is 4 minutes old”. Everything more confident is a liability.
Buckets
Exposed, with the rule that matched. Not exposed. Unknown, with the reason. Questions for me. No order block, on purpose.
Prompt you can paste
Shock check. Event: EVENT. Source grade: GRADE. Time: TIME.
Inventory export time: EXPORT_TIME. Staleness limit: LIMIT.
If the export is older than the limit, reply "inventory stale" and stop.
Exposure rules I defined in advance: RULES.
Inventory: EXPORT.
Sort lines into exposed, not exposed, and unknown.
Ask questions. Do not use the words buy, sell, close, or market as instructions.
Done when
You know whether the export is fresh, which lines matched a rule you wrote before the headline, and you have not been handed an order.
FAQ
What if I cannot export quickly?
Then the check cannot clear you. Say the inventory is unknown. Guessing positions from a morning screenshot is how you hedge the wrong book.
Can the agent tell me what to close?
No. It can tell you which lines match the exposure rules. Closing is a trade, and it happens outside this stack.
How does this relate to the morning digest?
The digest is scheduled and ranked. This check is for one shock and insists on a fresh export before it will speak.
